Mara Booth-Miller

My name is Mara Booth-Miller. I am an active duty member of the Coast
Guard stationed in Yorktown, Virginia, where I am the Senior Instructor
and Operations Officer at the National Search and Rescue School. I am
active in the field of volunteer Search and Rescue as well. I trained
for 3 years as a wilderness and avalanche search dog handler in Alaska
before moving to Virginia during the summer of 2007 where I am
continuing my training in wilderness searches and human remains detection. My
canine search partner is a 3 year old Labrador retriever named Sukhoi
(my fuzzy kid).
I have completed my primary pilot training and Instrument rating on
the civilian side. On the military side I was an Air Transportation
Specialist while enlisted in the Air Force then an Aviation Electrician
while enlisted in the Coast Guard. I am hoping to establish a second
career combining search dogs and my love of aviation after retiring from
the Coast Guard.
My hubby Lonnie is a CFI who also enjoys competitive marksmanship in
his leisure time.
