I started flying the summer before I finished college, purely
for fun. And
maybe for the shock value to my parents. I soloed in Ogallala,
NE and
finished my private license in Colorado Springs shortly before
finishing my Bachelors degree in psychology. I really
didnt know what I wanted to do next so I spent the
next year living in Vail, skiing every day and researching
various
career options. Once I decided to pursue aviation professionally,
I got all my ratings at Flight Safety in Vero Beach, FL and
then came back to Colorado to build time. I flight instructed
in Boulder and eventually at the Jefferson County airport
in Denver, acquiring a tailwheel endorsement and some aerobatic
and mountain flying experience along the way. I got hired
at ExpressJet (Continental Express) in November 2004 with
1000 hours total time, 100 hours multi-engine. I am a First
Officer in the EMB-145. I was on reserve in Newark for the
first four months and now am based out of Houston. I enjoy
writing and was excited to see my first article published
in an aviation magazine this spring, Pilot
Getaways.
