Wendi Nilson
I have always loved flying, I guess you could say it's
in my blood. I grew up around it, both my grandmother and
step-father were licensed pilots. Although my Dad (currently
flying aeromedical rescue helicopters) still gives me grief
for being a "fixed-wing puke", I know he's proud
of me for pursuing my dream job.
I
am still relatively new to the business, I have been
blessed to have a career in
aviation
as a regional airline captain. I hold an ATP with type
ratings in the BE-1900 and CL-65. Aside from those stunning
early
morning flights lifting off the ground just as the sun
peaks over the horizon to light up my corner of the world,
the
pure
joy in my life comes from sharing it with my gorgeous
son,five years old (going on 21!). He is the light of my
life. I am proud to call Texas my home.

shout out to all my girlfriends
in the biz - Stay true to your goals. It's easy to
get discouraged in the face of adversity, but rocky as
the
road may seem,
the rewards are great! Don't ever believe those who
say you can't do it. Thanks to The 99s for the network
of support
and encouragement for future women aviators!
